David J. Olekna

 

 

Born in the mid 1900s, David J. Olekna attended 1-8 grades in the public schools, then grades 9-12 in a private boarding school After attending college, David joined the United States Armed Services and trained as a Medical Lab Specialist and served a six-year term. He then worked as a scientist for a large medical firm in central New Jersey for 23 years, in the field of immunohematology; he co-patented over $7 million in product patents. In 1987, David and Mrs. Astle co-founded The Edward Thatcher Astle Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a 501 C-3 charity. David met Mr. and Mrs. Astle in the mid 1970s and became close friends. After Mr. Astle passed, he began to manage Mrs. Astle's life affairs. I acted as Mrs. Astle's POA and effective guardian for 14 years. The project was one that encompassed most aspects of elder care. Presently, David acts as President and Trustee of the Edward Thatcher Astle Memorial Scholarship Foundation. He is active in many charities through the foundation, which provides funding for various organizations in the Central New Jersey area. The foundation also supports college students throughout the country through the Foundation's scholarship program. David oversees and manages the scholarship program.
