
Rev. James DeVries is the Director of Pastoral Care at Hunterdon Medical Center and Hunterdon Hospice Chaplain in Flemington, New Jersey. He begins his 27th year as a full-time chaplain, having previously been Director of Pastoral Care at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, as well as hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Albany, New York. He is a graduate of Hope College and has a Masters of Divinity from Western Theological Seminary, both in Holland, Michigan. He is a Board Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains. Rev. DeVries is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America. His training has included a year's internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Mind/Body Medicine from Harvard Medical School, and five units of Clinical Pastoral Education. At Hunterdon Medical Center and Hospice, he is responsible for the daily religious and spiritual care of the patients, their families and staff. He is co-chair of the Ethics Consultation and serves on the hospitals Bio-Ethics Committee.
